Award Details

Scholarship awardees will receive

  1. $1,000 scholarship

  2. Dinner for the recipient and two guests with the scholarship founders

  3. Financial literacy educational package

Scholarship Instructions

Applicants who meet the eligibility criteria must complete the online form. Successful candidates must provide a statement of a copy of the college commitment letter or other document declaring the college of their choice in order to receive their scholarship package.

Eligibility Criteria

  1. 3.0 or better grade point average

  2. Must have participated in a competitive sport for at least two seasons (this year counts)

  3. Be a student at John W. North High School or Ramona High School

  4. Must intend to go to college/university, trade school, or other post-secondary education after graduation

Personal Statement Instructions

Please provide a 500-1500 word or 2-5 minutes video personal statement talking about the following:

  1. How you balanced life as a student-athlete

  2. Your reasons for attending college

  3. If your college education was completely paid for and you received a large inheritance, how would you spend the money?

If submitting a video essay, send via email in a standard video format (.mp4, .mov, .wmv, or .avi) or provide the link to a private YouTube video in a doc, docx, or pdf file. If providing a YouTube link, be sure to select the option that allows anyone with the link to watch. Ensuring the video is watchable is your responsibility. Tips for Video Essay

  1. Write a script and rehearse it. The smoother the delivery, the better your video essay looks.

  2. Have a light that illuminates your face as evenly as possible. We suggest using a lamp the illuminates your face from the front.

  3. Make sure your recording space is quiet! Eliminate as much background noise as possible

  4. Dress in business casual when on camera.

  5. Be creative, but professional.
